University of Leicester
The University of Leicester, which is one of the most socially inclusive of the UK’s leading HE institutions, has gone a step further in delivering on its long-standing commitment to providing fairer and equal access to higher education by providing the digital campus on students’ smartphones via Collabco’s myday app.
The university which has around 30,000 students has installed myday, which it calls myUoL, to enable students to reach key information and services in one place via one app, and on their smartphones.
MyUoL provides a more dynamic way to find and present university information and ‘push’ it out to students. It seamlessly integrates with the university’s many IT systems to provide the right information to the right student.
“We’ve been able to provide a real-time feedback tile so that students can feedback on any issues or services on the campus,” said Geoff Green, academic registrar, Leicester University.
Information such as calendars, availability of PCs around the campus, library services and access to the VLE are all provided in one place and easily accessible.
“Nothing else gave us value for money or allowed easy proof of concept to help us win over the university’s stakeholders – that was very powerful,” said Michael Dunmore, deputy director of IT solutions at Leicester University.
Matt Dunkin, director of Collabco said: “myUoL delivers the easiest and most engaging way for students to interact with university resources and feel a part of life within the university. It’s amazing how much more engaged students say they are when they have access to an app like myday.
“The University of Leicester is proud of its socially inclusive reputation and this is just the next stage in delivering on that promise by making students feel part of their studies at the university.”
