Norland College chose myday for their students and staff four years ago. They were attracted to a single portal which could link to all their sites and systems with single-sign-on. The myday platform was also flexible and extensible enough for the college to build and develop upon themselves. From the outset of the implementation, students and staff found the myday dashboard and app easy to use.

The college has utilised the Microsoft Office 365 package of email and calendar and its integration into which greatly helps them with communication and coordination. The inclusion of OneDrive also provides some secure personal space. There’s also a tile which links to the SharePoint site and Document Hub. The SharePoint pages are more detailed and sophisticated and the students can see them and collaborate on them. It’s a really important element of the student’s journey – collaborative learning is an important part of study at Norland.

Other tiles include access to library systems Heritage and EPSCO Discovery library systems which link to one of their modules. Access to SMILE which links to an academic skills accreditation is also provided.

Students and staff can keep up to date and on top of all college development and news via the Twitter feed and newsroom available in myday. There are also links to information on what the students are up to so their peers can keep up to date with what’s happening and what to expect.

Interestingly, there’s also a tile called Video 365. Some of the students the assessments are in video format so it’s really helpful to be able to view and submit assessments this way.

Access to Moodle is also provided via myday using single sign-on, students can submit assessments directly into Turnitin from Moodle thanks to extended integration. Edward Ley, IT and VLE Coordinator at Norland College provided us with some great feedback.

“myday has helped to make our students’ lives much easier. Everything is all in one place with one password which makes things a lot simpler. It’s a good signposting portal – students know where to go to and also what to ask for if they can’t find something. myday really helps with the interaction and engagement between students and staff.”

Edward also pointed out that with Norland students spending almost half of their time in placements, being able to log in anytime, anywhere has really helped. The college are excited about the future of myday and are planning a high-res dashboard for PC and the mobile app.
